The two shots with the baby and the little girl were shot with FF bodies. The 24-105 may work on portraits ( due to being up close) but there have been mixed reviews about using EF lenses on crop bodies. As someone said the 85mm range would be best for portraits on a crop. Kent.
The current IBIS tech in mirrorless bodies makes the F4 more than adequate for a variety of light situation. If they make it F2.8 and double the weight/size, not to mention price, who is going to carry this around all day. It defeats the purpose of having a 24-105 zoom in the first place.

4 days ago · Interesting Choice. While others may disagree Canon released some amazing lenses in 2023 including the RF 24-105 mm f2.8, RF 100-300 mm f2.8, RF 10-20 mm f4, and the RF 200-800 mm. With 2024 being an Olympic year I also expect a lot of announcements from Canon and others (e.g. Sony, Nikon, etc.).
