The total latency of the Dante system when relying on DVS as your interface will be slightly lower than using direct USB. The DVS drivers are more efficient than the USB drivers are. Both option are going to have a decent amount of latency however. When we used DVS on a computer, we saw about 7-9ms latency each way.
The Dante Virtual Soundcard can be set for latency values of 4, 6 or 10ms. Lower settings require greater resources from the host computer, and so should be used only with machines that exceed the minimum requirements. More info
